Farm Updates

It has been a wet week here at the farm with overall another two inches hitting the fields and we still have a bit more in the forecast to come with a touch more the next two days. It can certainly hinder plans. We are managing to find tasks though to keep things moving, as we go to mulch two more fields this past week. Once the sun starts shining we can continue on with twining them up to keep their vines off the ground over the season. This is to help keep them drier, and also make for a quicker harvest.

Tomatoes in the high tunnel are hitting their stride and we should see a good supply of them this week in share’s. It starts to make for quite the farm salad between those, the lettuce heads, carrots, and the ever present cucumbers. We hope their presence each week has been a treat and we would love to hear what else you all are doing to keep up with them!

This week check out the u-pick list below, as a large field item is on the list, the beans. Beans are a very time consuming crop to pick and we are starting to have our hands full with many other crops on the farm. Conveniently this crop is not far and is easy to get to from the main road. We will highlight the area with quite a few red signs to help mark the beds of beans. Please do not pick other crops surrounding the beans. The more we can pick the beans off the plants, the more they can possibly produce, so have fun!

Friendly reminders:

  • Please remember to bring your own bags or boxes to pick-up to help reduce waste

  • Also, for the safety of our livestock and the integrity of our food, no dogs are allowed at pick-ups. Thank you for understanding and helping us keep the farm and food safe for everyone.

  • 13 week shareholders can visit us any of the 26 weeks of harvest to use share credits. No need to notify us if you are coming.
