2025 Workshare Program
Join in with the harvest and leave with a vegetable share in exchange!
Workshare Harvest shifts
Offered only during our Main Season CSA
(May-mid November)
Wednesdays or Saturdays
7:30a.m. -12:30p.m.
A wonderful experience for those looking to join in with us to pull in a bigger harvest for the 2025 season.
In exchange for your volunteer efforts you will leave with a bounty of freshly picked organic produce.
Our goal is to increase access to our local produce and beautiful farm environment for neighbors and interested individuals who wish to learn more about farming, while using labor exchange to help the harvest team bring in bigger harvests each week! The produce will go towards our CSA program but also we aim to donate around 30% of that harvest throughout the season to our local food pantries. Your help will make an impact to provide fresh food for our community.
We ask for those interested in worksharing, be able to commit to attend several harvest days (4 or more) over the course of our Main season CSA, which will run May- November. As we will be investing time into training you to harvest each different crop and help us be better suited to prepare for the distribution of our CSA on time.
Who can participate in work trade?
Any individual who is 16 years or older, interested in gaining experience working on a vegetable production farm, with the ability to work outside in hot weather, and willing to get dirty is welcome to sign up.
What do we expect from work traders?
We kindly ask that you sign up only if you feel confident in your ability to attend multiple harvest days—ideally four or more. Your commitment helps us plan more effectively and ensures a smooth experience for everyone involved.
Please arrive on time to start harvest
At 7:30am we will promptly gather our tools to head out to the field, where we will give demonstrations and instructions on each crop that we will harvest, and get the harvest in on time!
Please note: While by 12:30p.m. most crops in the share will be harvested, there may be produce that may need to be washed or processed more at home, as our Wednesday CSA will not start until 3:00p.m. and Saturdays at 1:00p.m.Contributing to a positive and respectful environment for all staff and other volunteers.
Clagett Farm is committed to hosting an inclusive and safe working environment for everyone.Working in a farm environment.
Getting dirty and sweaty are part of the job!
Being prepared can make the day more comfortable though here at the farm, so be sure to check the weather the day of harvest to know best what to bring.
Most days will be outside in direct sun so be prepared to bring sunscreen or clothing that can keep you covered by bringing a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated during hot weather, and a raincoat if you are ready to join us in the rain.
What to expect in your vegetable share from us
We will aim to provide you with as close a share as we provide for the CSA shareholders. Please know that the vegetables will vary depending on the growing season, and customizing your share may not be possible as they may be limited to what we can provide for those in the CSA program. Also note, bought in items from other farms will not be included in the workshare, but access to U-pick and an abundance of “seconds” or “ugly produce” will be.
Please email Olivia, our Farm Crew Leader, at omurphy@cbf.org, with any questions and inquire about signing up for workshare shifts
