Farm Updates

In this week’s shares we’re serving up beautiful cabbage heads in honor of last night’s first supermoon of 2025.

This one was especially magical, being a Harvest Moon, which is the first full moon following the fall equinox, making it a true harvest supermoon. Historically, this moon gave farmers extra light in the evening hours to bring in their autumn crops, marking one of the most celebrated moments of the season.

As we settle deeper into fall, the treats just keep coming. Fresh ginger remains plentiful in the tunnels, and we’re still seeing October cucumbers. They are the perfect crisp companion to your salad greens, and their vines have become a favorite resting spot for the local tree frogs.

The tomato tunnel is beginning to slow down as cooler nights creep in, but we expect at least one more solid week of vine ripened tomatoes. After that, they will begin to blush more slowly and finish ripening on your kitchen counter.

After this week, we will be entering the final five weeks of our Main Season CSA, and there is still plenty to look forward to in each of them. Butternut squash, beets, savoy cabbages, carrots, and sweet potatoes are all on the way. We will begin harvesting and curing the sweet potatoes over the next couple of weeks to help them develop their signature sweetness and ensure a long storage life. We expect to have them ready for those final shares of the season.
