Recipes of the week
After all the rich Thanksgiving food of the last week we are all looking forward to some fresh salads and stir-fries!
Crunchy romaine heads, spicy mustard mix, and hearty spinach are all on the menu. Plus our first big harvest of broccolini! If you haven’t cooked with this before, know that it has tender delicious stems and leaves, and is sweet and crunchy, not bitter like the later season broccoli “raab”. You can grill or pan sear it whole, chop it small and stir fry it, or roast it in the oven for tasty charred flavor.
Let us know if you try any of these recipes, or have other favorite recipes you like to use with farm produce. Check out some staff favorites like the butternut squash gnocchi which is Elizabeth’s signature dish, and Will loves frying up crispy colcannon cakes.

Farm Updates:
The whole staff had a fabulous end of season rest and was able to take a week off from the farm to slow down and put our feet up. We returned ready to harvest and wash the abundance of veggies this week!
This work is hard on the body, so the recuperation time helped us recover and become excited again about all our farm dreams. Now we’re back in full swing and have been working on perfecting the crop plan for the coming spring. Current tasks like inventorying seeds to make our big annual seed order, and resetting the greenhouse for the start of seeding transplants. The winter is truly the time to accomplish all the projects we dream of the rest of the year, from getting nice farm brochures designed to recycling scrap metal to make space in the garage.
In addition, of course we are monitoring the weather to ensure all the field and tunnel vegetables are held at the right temperature and humidity. We use a lightweight water-permeable fabric called “row cover” stretched over top of the plants with wire hoops to hold it up, which keeps warmth and moisture in. This warm blanket layer protects the crops from excessive frost, cold drying winds, and snow. Luckily this week we managed to take the outdoor row cover off to harvest and get it put back on before the snow came. With this cold chill even the indoor crops have row cover this week!
Requested a boxed share for the week?
Your pre-bagged share will be found in the outermost walk-in fridge on the back side of the CSA pick-up.
When you approach we will have more instructions to get you oriented on grabbing your share off the cart found inside of that walk-in.
Coming after hours
The large gates as you enter the farm, may be closed if you come during “off” hours, you can go around them by proceeding straight and then turning left to go back towards those large 3 barns.
Note: You can request to have your shares in future weeks boxed and left for pickup after the usual pickup time, or choose to 'double up' on shares to make up for a missed pickup.
Please let us know in advance using the Share Request Form below— & we’ll be happy to accommodate your request. To make it easy, we’ll include this button in each email for quick access.
